The Pitfalls of Importing Gear Yourself!

Pure Music Group prides itself in offering excellent products at competitive prices. Some customers hope to save some money by importing their own equipment from overseas. This may seem logical on the surface but may result in problems down the track and we think you should be forewarned.

There are plenty of suppliers who are happy to take your money and supply you products from Asia and elsewhere. But we have seen many customers who have done it and live to regret it later on. These suppliers are experienced operators and can see you coming a mile away. They hang around on eBay and conceal their real identity and location.

They know the market intimately and they know their product. If the product is cheap, it is cheap for a reason. The reasons will be one or more of the following:

1. The item is actually second hand or demo stock that has been used for 12 months or more.

2. The item is superseded stock that the supplier knows has been updated or is about to be replaced.

3. The item is an orphan piece that does not sound good and has little value in their market and you will no doubt find that it is an orphan here too.

4. The supplier does not have to cover warranty because either he does not offer one, or if he does he knows the cost of shipping each way makes it uneconomic for you to make a claim.

5. The product has had problems in the past and has been repaired so the owner does not want it back again.

6. These guys are really good at repacking things. They have new packing materials and generally open the box from the bottom and re seal it there. So when you look at the top you think it is a new box when it is not.

Pure Music Group sells brand-new products.

We sell you brand-new products purchased direct from the manufacturer. When you buy from us you get:

1. Brand new product that has not been used by someone else. If it is used or demo stock, we will tell you and price accordingly.

2. Products that are guaranteed to work on 240 Volt mains power in Australia or New Zealand. A lot of valve equipment has transformers wound for 220 Volts and if run on 240 Volts it will either fail or experience shortened valve life. Also it will not sound as good as a unit specifically built for our market and power supply.

3. Local warranty that is easily accessible to you.

4. Pricing that is not that much dearer than what you would pay for a private import. We try to keep our prices very competitive and the small premium you pay to purchase from us is well worth the peace of mind. It will cost you much more than the saving you think you got if you have a problem with your private import purchase.

5. If you compare our prices with European or USA prices you will find in many cases we are cheaper.

In summary, it might seem like a good idea to save money or maybe you are just up for the challenge of trying to buy cheaper, but at the end of the day we think that it is not worth the risk.

Please give us a chance to show you what good service we can offer and how competitive we can be.
